new love.

I'm just having a hard time tearing myself away from the lino-cutting. I haven't actually made anything with the new cuts, I've just been enjoying the cutting. Not terribly productive, but very soothing and fun.

That's great... I feel the same way when I do all the cutting for my lamps and votive candleholders... Its careful work that requires a lot of concentration and it becomes like a meditation... Enjoy!

Wow this post brought me back to a time that I can't quite remember (if that makes sense!) I remember the feeling of peeling away the lino cuts but can't remember when, where or how. Weird huh? Must of been in art class in high school? Or maybe in my basement with my dad's art stuff when I was little. Thanks a lot Jeanette now that is going to drive me crazy :)

Hope you figured it out by now Roni! But I don't want to mention it again in case you haven't.

Yea, I learned in high school and made an awesome print of a penguin (that currently is in my closet, I think I will hang him in the kitchen now). After that, I didn't use it again, but have admired print artists for a long time and wanted to try it again. Not to mention that I can do it at home and not go all the way to the studio. Which is a big bonus in cold, rainy weather.

Jeanette-
I love the bird design! You can always print it onto clay too:) Just use a mason stain mixed with an oil based medium and print like you would on paper. Or sometimes I use the rubber carving blocks and the blank stamp pads from the craft store. Fill the stamp pad with comercial underglaze and you have yourself a ceramic stamp! Sorry if you know all this already, I just love printmaking AND clay and get really excited to put them together:)
Your work is beautiful!

It's a beautiful cut... it would be a shame not to use it! Nice work :)
