Handbuilt.

For a self-proclaimed die-hard wheelthrower, I sure am doing a lot of handbuilding these days. It is exciting to look at clay in a whole new light. I've been working on the mugs. Still not happy with the handle, but I really love being able to bring my cut-glass textures into functional pieces.
I think this new appreciation/interest came from working on my baskets, which have handbuilt elements...

Scallop-happy.

I went a little overboard. I couldn't seem to stop. Can't wait to see how these turn out. I'm really not a frilly-frilly girly-girl. Really. But you'd never know it from the look of these small dishes.

New Year.

Happy New Year! 2008-its bound to be great!
I'm excited to get going this year. Lots o' plans.
I started the new year by making these juicers. Inspired by some that I found at CostPlus World Market. I can't wait to see them glazed and with their matching juice cups. I love trying new forms, and I think these came out quite nicely (so far...still have to fire and glaze!)

Bisque back-up.

This is what happens when your studio-mate (Tania Julian) is soon-to-be-famous and working under a deadline. But now its my turn to hog the kiln!

Proto-types.

I have been doing some work with molds. Which is very different for me. I am a die-hard wheelthrower. Or so I thought. But this handbuilding is really fun. And making molds is AWESOME! I can't wait to get some of these finished and get some feedback. I'm really excited. Here is a picture of these prototypes being created.
